The biggest mass execution from a single case in modern Egyptian History

Some would question the integrity of the court system in Egypt after a judged sentenced 529 members of the Muslim Brotherhood to death for charges related to violent riots and the death of a single police officer n the southern Egyptian City of Minya last August.

So what is the Muslim botherhood? The Muslim Brotherhood is a religious and political group founded on the belief that Islam is not simply a religion, but a way of life. It advocates a move away from secularism, and a return to the rules of the Quran as a basis for healthy families, communities, and states.

Lawyers and analysts said the sentences were likely to be reduced on appeal, but their scale and quick presecution heightened concern for Egypt's rule of law amid a crackdown on political opposition. At least 16,000 mainly Islamist protestors have been arrested since Morsi's overthrow in July.

"Everyone knows that most of those in jail are young, and that oppression is targeting an entire generation to subjugate it to a regime that understands how separate it is from them and that does not want to, and cannot in any case, accommodate or include them." said activist Alaa And El Fattah.

A Global Apocalypse IPCC reports impact of Global Warming

Some may ignore the actuality of Global Warming, but no one can disregard the  ramifications of it. A report released on Monday by the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) reveals extreme global devastation worldwide in years to come. 

The report is the second portion of a four-part report, accumulated by thousands of scientists on scientific evidence for global warming. Over one hundred governments agreed on the scientist-written 49-page summary, mentioning the word "risk" an average of about five and a half times per page.

Michel Jarraud, secretary-general of the World Meteorological Organization, said, previously, people could have damaged the Earth's climate out of "ignorance"

"Now, ignorance is no longer a good excuse," he said.

The study shows immense evidence that will effect natural resources and human life. Flooding, storm surges, droughts and heat waves, violent conflicts, and food shortages. 

So what makes this report from the other reports? The new development in this research, unlike in previous reports, scientists tried to limit examples of extreme disasters that use computer simulations and linked it with partly to man-made warming. On this most recent report includes the larger issues of risk and vulnerability.

"Nobody on this planet is going to be untouched by the impacts of climate change," Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change chairman Rajendra Pachauri said in a Monday news conference.

Political leaders Russian President Vladimir Putin and President Barack Obama spoke over the phone Friday deliberating on possibilities to a "diplomatic resolution" with the hostility in the Crimean peninsula, where Putin formally annexed earlier this month. The hour long conversation agreed on arranging a meeting scheduled for Sunday evening in Paris where secretary of State John Kerry and his Russian counterpart Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov to discuss further steps.

Russia is gathering of 50,000 troops along the Ukrainian border "under the guise of military exercises." said President Obama at an interview with CBS News. "It may simply be an effort to intimidate Ukraine, or it may be that they've got additional plans," Obama said. "And in either case, what we need right now to resolve and de-escalate the situation would be for Russia to move back those troops and to begin negotiations directly with the Ukrainian government, as well as the international community."

In late November riots and protesters take to the streets in Kiev after former Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych's renounced his agreement to strengthen ties with the European Union and build closers ties with Russian instead. Several regions in the west of the country are in open revolt against the central government, while many in eastern Ukraine back the president and favor strong ties with Russia, their former Soviet ruler.

21 dead, 31 missing after deadly landslide in Washington

The deadly one square mile mudslide that took place on March 22 Saturday morning in Washington took the lives of eight people and one hundred unaccounted for. The mudslide was caused by rainwater accumulation in the ground over a period of weeks. Several towns in Snohomish County, including Oso and Darrington, were affected. Snohomish County is northeast of Seattle, near the Canadian border.

"Total devastation. I mean, it's just unbelievable. It reminds me of what a tornado looks like when it's touched the ground," said Ty Trenary, the sheriff of Snohomish County.

The catastrophic nature of the landslide had torn down six homes into pieces and buried a state highway, coating it with mud, rock and debris. 15-20 feet deep in some places said Shari Ireton, spokeswoman for the Snohomish County sheriff's office.

   The North Fork of the Stillaguanish River is pending potential flood risks up and downstream. Emergency workers were also put in danger as the slurry like mud had them sinking up to their armpits, requiring rescue themselves as they were pulled out with ropes.

    The tally of missing people may arise as the search continues, authorities also fear the death count may be more than the eight that have been confirmed dead. All residents in the slide zone who may have been away are asked to check in with local emergency officials or The Red Cross.

    ‘'The situation is very grim,’’ Snohomish County Fire District 21 Chief Travis Hots said.
